A group of 25 rabbis joined with Protestant and Catholic clergymen today in four “peace prayer” meetings on the Viet Nam war, held at the Central Synagogue here and in three churches. The meetings were sponsored by an interfaith organization called the New York Clergy Concerned With Viet Nam. The clergymen assembled at the Central Synagogue and, after reciting memorial prayers and special prayers for peace, they marched to Christ Church, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the United Nations Church Center.
Among the Jewish spiritual leaders taking part in the meetings were Dr. William Rosenblum, rabbi emeritus of Temple Israel; Rabbi Lloyd Tenenbaum; Rabbi David J. Seligson, leader of the Central Synagogue; and his associate, Rabbi Lewis Bogage. During their march, the participants carried banners bearing the slogan “Peace” in English and Hebrew.
