The first Institute of the Commission on the Future of Judaism opened today at the Jewish Theological Seminary here with 100 rabbis in attendance. It will continue through July 17.
The work of the institute will be divided into four categories with the rabbis participating in one of four sub-committees devoted to studying problems of the social structure of Judaism, cultural activities, religion and morals. Leaders of the various committees will be Prof. Louis Finkelstein, president of the Seminary; Dr. Mordecai M. Kaplan, dean of the Seminary’s Teachers Institute and Rabbi Solomon Goldman, former president of the Zionist Organization of America.
