Rabbi Abraham Kook, chief rabbi of Palestine, and Rabbi J. C. Sonnenfeld, chief Ashkenazic rabbi of Jerusalem, today issued for the first time a joint appeal to the Jews of Palestine to support the rabbinical seminaries in the country in view of the diminution of support from America as a result of the economic depression there.
The appeal says, “Four thousand of Jerusalem’s most precious sons, pillars of the faith and of the Torah, are suffering acute privations.”
