The 17th annual convention of the Rabbinical Council of America, with which more than 500 Orthodox rabbis from some 200 communities are affiliated, concluded here today with the unanimous re-election of Rabbi Theodore L. Adams as president and the adoption of a number of resolutions on community and national issues.
The convention urged that Sabbath observers be permitted to keep their stores open on Sundays in communities where restrictions presently exist. It also called for increased support for Orthodox religious institutions in this country and Israel, as well as for the United Jewish Appeal and the Israel bond drive. In addition, the delegates asked Congress to revise and humanize the McCarran-Walter Immigration Law. Finally, the convention urged its Kashruth Commission to make a sweeping investigation of wholesale and retail meat prices at community levels.
