This is the fifth week of the shoe strike here and about 1,000 Jewish workers are out, together with 7,000 other workers. The Jewish community was the first to take steps toward the relief of the strikers and their action was closely followed by the Brotherhood of Shoe and Allied Craftsmen.
Brockton has welcomed its newest Jewish spiritual leader, Rabbi Irving M. Levey of Cleveland, Ohio, who succeeds Rabbi David Goldberg, who resigned to devote his time to travel and study.
