Ambassador Yitzhak Rabin was honored here last week by the United Jewish Appeal at a farewell luncheon. In his final speech to the UJA as Ambassador, Rabin declared: “As you have shared our dream and our cause from the beginning, you continue to set an example to the world in terms of your dedication and the extent of your contribution to humanitarian programs in Israel.”

Paul Zuckerman, UJA general chairman, presented Rabin with an historic map of early American and hailed the occasion as a “family gathering whose members share dreams and aspirations.” The American Jewish community, he added, “will not rest until Israel’s people are freed from poverty and we have helped build new lives for all new immigrants who wish to come in.”

CORRECTION

The Behind the Headlines analysis in the Daily News Bulletin Jan. 12 said that Israeli Presidents are elected by the Knesset every four years. Presidents are elected every five years, Knesset members every four years. This year both elections coincide.
