The Foreign Ministry finds no fault with the statements made by Ambassador Yitzhak Rabin, Israel’s Ambassador to the US, in an interview he gave recently to the Israel State Radio Service, the Jewish Telegraphic Agency learned from authoritative sources today. A report that appeared in the Washington Post last Sunday, quoted unnamed Israeli officials to the effect that Rabin faced a reprimand for allegedly indicating a preference for President Nixon over his opponents in the American elections.
The JTA learned today that the Foreign Ministry’s directorate has found nothing objectionable in Rabin’s remarks. The Israeli envoy said his remarks were misquoted and distorted in the story filed by Washington Post Jerusalem correspondent Yuval Elizur. Avraham Avidar, a Foreign Ministry spokesman, told the JTA today that he had no idea who the officials mentioned by Elizur were.
