Rabin to Address Jewish Leaders

Premier Yitzhak Rabin of Israel will make his first address to the leadership of the American Jewish community since assuming office at the regular quarterly meeting of the Council of Jewish Federations and Welfare Funds (CJF) to be held in New York Sept. 14. It was announced by Raymond Epstein, CJF president.

It will follow his discussions with U.S. governmental leaders during his six-day visit to the United States and will be Rabin’s only public address to the American Jewish leadership during this visit. The meeting will be held in cooperation with the United Jewish Appeal.

Over 300 community leaders from the U.S. and Canada are expected at the dinner which will be the highlight of the Council’s quarterly board and national committee meetings that will open on Thursday.Sept. 12 and continue through Sept. 15. The four days of deliberations will be devoted to an intensive assessment of the critical issues before the American Jewish community. including the 1975 financing needs in Israel, Overseas at home, local social welfare programs, studies on the aged. Jewish education, leadership development, and varied welfare concerns.

The meeting of the Council will be augmented for the occasion of Rabin’s address by the attendance of the leadership of the UJA and of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. This address will immediately precede the Premier’s return to Israel after his brief visit, Epstein said. Matters of vital interest to the American Jewish community will be discussed at the CJF’s quarterly meeting and finalized in programs and plans for the CJF at its 43rd General Assembly in Chicago Nov. 13-17.
