The Senate defeated today by the vote of 67 to 31 an amendment to the law to establish workmen’s credit funds which would have limited benefits from these funds to “pureblooded Rumanians.”
The amendment was offered by Prof. Alexander Cuza, anti-Semitic leader. The senator representing the German minority protested against Prof. Cuza’s racial discrimination, whereupon Prof. Iroga declared the Germans had no right to object to racial discrimination against them since this principle was introduced in their own country in a ruthless manner.
