The presence of the head of the National Association for the Advancement and Protection of the Majority of White People at a hearing of the Dade County school board–which voted 4 to 1 to ban a memorandum and date book distributed by the B’nai B’rith Anti-Defamation League–was seen as significant by community leaders here, according to a report in “The Jewish Floridian.”
The newspaper, in its current issue, said that Milton Piedro, who heads the white supremacy group, is also listed as a subscriber on the certificate of incorporation of Florida States Rights, Inc. The report pointed out that Talmadge Lutrell, former Ku Klux Klan member who appeared before a Federal Grand Jury in connection with the bombing of several synagogues and Roman Catholic churches, was a co-subscriber with Piedro on that certificate.
The report added the Piedro’s presence at the school board meeting “gave added substance to the belief that possible objections from vocal extremist groups, bigoted in nature, prompted the school board’s action.”
