Radio Cairo is broadcasting in the Russian language to Jews in the Soviet Union in an attempt to deter them from applying to emigrate to Israel. Until recently, Egyptian propaganda broadcasts have been limited to Hebrew and designed to undermine Israeli morale. According to reports reaching here from the Soviet Union, Jewish aliya activists are appalled by the content of the programs from Cairo. They usually contain interviews with Jewish immigrants who returned emigres in Israel to their relatives in the USSR. These are probably supplied to the Egyptians by Soviet authorities.
