Light rains falling in central Israel increased hopes here that crops in that part of the country could be saved from a threatened drought. Continued dry weather in the southern part of Israel has dimmed all hopes of saving the drought-stricken Negev crop.

The 600-ton Danish vessel Andreas Boya has arrived at Eilat, Israel’s southernmost point, with a cargo of foodstuffs and building materials from East Africa. One hundred and twenty tons of meat from Eritrea that had been held by Egyptian authorities who confiscated the shipment at Suez, arrived at Haifa yesterday aboard the Norwegian vessel Rimfrost.
