The $1,000,000 campaign to complete the financing of the Bronx Hospital was inaugurated at a banquet at the Hotel Astor, New York. Thursday night, at which $860,000 were pledged.
The total cost of the structure will exceed $2,000,000, more than $1,000,000 of which was raised in a previous campaign. The present fund will cover cost of equipment and furnishings, as well as the balance of construction costs.
Among the large contributors were Mrs. Fannie Blumenstein and Brown family. $107,000; Ladies’ Auxiliary of Bronx Hospital, $100,000; Benjamin Beneson. $57,500; Medical Staff of Bronx Hospital, $55,000; L. Altschul and Samuel Golding, $50,000; Bernard London, $42,500; Philip Pearlman Alexander Selkin and John Shevell, $37,500; Felix Lacks and Abraham Wechsler, $30,000; Jacob and Emil Leitner, $25,000; Joseph G. Abramson, $20,000; M. Smolenoff, $17,500; Abraham Weisman, $15,000; Junior League of Bronx Hospital, $12,500; Nathan Greenberg and anonymous. $10,000.
