Centralized fund-raising for Orthodox institutions in Israel and other countries has begun to operate in this city and in Toronto. The arrangements for operation of the new fund have been completed in this city after negotiations between the American Jewish Congress and the Combined Jewish Appeal. The Toronto negotiations were conducted between local Congress officials and that city’s United Jewish Welfare Fund.
The central funds here and in Toronto do not constitute a new charily but are designed as a medium through which supporters of traditional institutions in Israel and elsewhere may channel their contributions. According to the plans, solicitation by individual agents of these institutions will be eliminated.
