The Jewish party of Rumania held a meeting here to organize resistance to ex-Premier Vaida-Voevod’s ###ation-wide campaign to restrict the civil rights of the Jews along racial lines.
At the same time, M. Moldovan, former ministerial director of Bessarabia and now president of the National Peasant party in Bukowina, ordered at a party meeting today that Dr. Vaida-Voevod’s drive against Jewish rights should not be supported by any member of the National Peasant party.
“The Central Committee of our party, which is the supreme body, has refused by an enormous majority to incorporate the numerus clausus restrictions into the party program,” M. Moldovan said. “This project of restricting the Jews to a numerus clausus, which is advocated by Dr. Vaida-Voevod, is in conflict with the traditions and the ideology of our party. We here in Bukowina can see how such restrictions are impracticable. For this reason we must emphatically ### them.”
