A resolution appealing to Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain to open Palestine’s doors to Jewish refugees was adopted tonight by about 1,500 persons attending a rally at Cooper Union in honor of Lady Reading, British Zionist leader, under the auspices of the Council of Organizations for Palestine. Lady Reading, who is touring the United States in behalf of the United Jewish Appeal, stressed that Palestine represented the “heart” of a solution of the refugee problem. Judge Morris Rothenberg declared that if 150,000 Jews were to leave Germany under the plan arranged by George Rublee, then “Palestine must be opened up to large-scale immigration.”
