Dr. Samuel Schulman, in a Thanksgiving sermon at Temple Beth-El, Sunday, assailed those persons who would limit the title of “American” to people of any particular creed or to the Nordic or Anglo-Saxon element.
“All views,” he said, “which would monopolize Americanism for a particular race, for a particular church or for a particular demeanor or manners are altogether un-American. They are today the greatest menace to the dignity, to the freedom, to the humanity of men for which the Americanlife stands, insofar as they ten by fostering hatred and misunderstanding to impair the unity and independence of the American nation.”
