For the first time a non-Jewish deputy submitted an interpellation regarding Jewish excesses in Roumania when Professor Raszanu of the government party declared during today’s session of parliament that the anti-Semitic students “desecrate the name of Roumania abroad.” In his speech he discussed the student’s disturbance at the national theatre and demanded harsh punishment for the guilty and said it is the duty of the government to free the students from irresponsible agitators.
The French ambassador who demonstratively left the theatre when the riot started today called on Premier Maniu to discuss the incident. The Jewish deputies in parliament, who have daily pointed out the excesses of the students, have been unsatisfied with the replies of the ministers regarding the disturbances and other Jewish problems and through the Jewish Deputies Club have decided to vote against the government.
