Yaacov Geri, the new Minister for Trade and Industry, today declared that his Ministry is striving to lessen the effect of controls on the Israel economy. Speaking to a press conference, Mr. Geri added, however, that under the present circumstances rationing and price controls are inevitable.
He said that the Ministry is considering easing some controls and eliminating others. He reported a willingness on the part of some foreign investors to do business in Israel, and pledged that the Ministry would give such persons every assistance. In addition, he promised that all citizens would receive equal treatment from his Ministry, irrespective of their politics.
