Having always remembered the days when he was a penniless immigrant and was obliged to work in sweat shops, Pincus Burger, who was a wealthy realtor at the time of his death, specified that $14,000 of his $100,000 estate was to be devoted to charitable organizations, especially on the lower East Side of New York, where he lived the greater part of his life.
He also specified in his will that the Yeshiva Ohel Torah and the Yeshiva College, as well as the Congregation Ohab Zedeck, should receive contributions, as do several synagogues in Hungary.
