Rabbi Leon Feuer, president of the Central Conference of American Rabbis, called today for a three-faith mobilization to combat poverty and economic problems in the United States.
The CCAR Committee on Justice and Peace opened a two-day study session with experts from government, labor, management and economic and social leaders to prepare a position paper on the question and define the role of the rabbi in community and synagogue work. Rabbi Feuer saw the poverty issue “as another area in which the religions of America could unite forces as they did on civil rights.”
