Jewish doctors, who for racial reasons were denied their diploma and barred from practicing in Germany, have been placed on the same footing as other foreign doctors in England possessing diplomas, and will be allowed to practice, temporarily at least, under new defense regulations issued today.
As a war measure, the Home Office recently announced that foreign doctors would be admitted to practice in England, Scotland and Northern Ireland during the war if they possessed a diploma from their country of origin. The new regulation waives this requirement. An official announcement states that the regulation was issued “mainly to cover the case of Jewish doctors who were penalized by the Nazi authorities.”
