David Yaskiel awaited in Brixton Prison today deportation to Germany, which he says will mean almost certain death, while his wife made a desperate plea to the Home Office to cancel the expulsion order against the refugee.
Yaskiel, who fled to England after suffering persecution and loss of nationality rights because he had prosecuted his Nazi chauffeur for
theft, was served with a deportation order by the Home Office, but was given no reason for the action.
To a plea from his wife, Sir John Simon, the Home Secretary, replied: “I am not prepared to alter the decision.”
