Refugees have provided work for many Americans instead of depriving them of jobs according to a pamphlet entitled “Meet the Refugees” compiled by the Committee on Refugees of the Young Women’s Christian Association and published by the Womans Press in this city.
Between 5,000 and 6,000 refugees have brought with them to this country an estimated $20,000,000 which already has been put to work in a wide assortment of industries, the pamphlet says.
But more important than the capital are the patents and the processing secrets many refugees have brought to this country, the pamphlet adds. The pamphlet points out that a survey made several months ago by the National Refugee Service revealed that some 2,200 American citizens were employed in 303 refugee-founded enterprises.
