THE ZEITSCHRIFT FUER AKADEMIE DEUTSCHES RECHT OF BERLIN ASSERTS THAT “NON-ARYAN” EMIGRANTS FROM GERMANY STILL HAVE DUTIES TO THE REICH AND MUST DO NOTHING TO HARM GERMAN INTERESTS.

THE DECLARATION IS MADE IN COMMENTING ON THE GERMAN FINANCE MINISTRY’S REFUSAL TO EXEMPT A GERMAN JEWISH PHYSICIAN FROM PAYMENT OF THE “FLIGHT TAX.” THE PHYSICIAN HAD ARGUED THAT HIS EMIGRATION BENEFITED GERMANY SINCE A GERMAN WAS TAKING OVER HIS PRACTICE, BESIDES BEING IN ACCORDANCE WITH NAZI POLICY.

“WHEN A PERSON LEAVES GERMANY TO SETTLE ABROAD,” THE PAPER SAYS, “THIS IS IN THE INTERESTS OF GERMANY ONLY IF THAT PERSON CARRIES ON NAZI PROPAGANDA, BUT EVEN A NON-ARYAN EMIGRANT MUST REMEMBER HIS DUTIES TO GERMANY AND DO NOTHING TO HARM GERMAN INTERESTS. THE DOCTOR WHO EMIGRATES AND BELIEVES HE IS THEREBY CREATING VACANCIES FOR ARYAN DOCTORS, AS WELL AS SAVING THE INSURANCE SOCIETY THE PAYMENT OF HIS PENSION, DOES NOT EMIGRATE IN THE INTERESTS OF GERMAN BECAUSE GERMAN INTERESTS ABROAD DO NOT BENEFIT THEREBY.”
