The first transport of tools and machinery necessary to establish ORT workshops for refugees in Camp de Gurs, unoccupied France, has been delivered to the administration of the camp, it was reported here today by the ORT representative in Switzerland. The workshops, which will function in accordance with an understanding between the French authorities and the ORT, will produce clothing, shoes and underwear for the interned refugees.
A delegation of the ORT consisting of the executive members, Dr. Joseph Dubossarski and Ing. Wolski, visited Camp Gurs to work out the necessary details for ORT relief activities within the camp. The delegation was cordially received by the camp authorities, who promised full support in carrying out the ORT relief activities for the internees. A detailed memorandum on the projects which the ORT intends to start in the camp will be submitted to the French Ministry of Interior in Vichy, as well as to the camp administration.
Simultaneously, the ORT representative here said the ORT this week opened workshops for clothing and shoes in the refugee camp in Brens near Toulouse. The workshops were established in accordance with an agreement reached between the ORT headquarters in unoccupied France and the administration of the Brens camp.
