In order to be able to exercise proper control in the matter of Labour permits, all aliens in Lithuania will be required to register with the police, we learn from the Ministry of the Interior, the “Yiddishe Stimme” writes. A special circular will be issued by the Ministry ordering a simultaneous registration throughout the country. Labour permits held by persons who have not registered will be invalid.
The Citizens Protection Department of the Ministry of the Interior has issued a new circular to the district chiefs, providing that offences against the regulations with regard to labour permits should be dealt with by the district chiefs at their discretion, instead of as hither to by the Ministry of the Interior. Persons proceeded against in this way will have the right of appeal to the Minister of the Interior within a period of two weeks. If no appeal is lodged within the fortningt, the sentence of the district chief is enforced. If the offender has no money to pay the fine, the district chief may raise the question of his deportation.
