Regret was expressed over the fact that a Negress was barred from the testimonial dinner given Mr. Felix M. Warburg by the Theatrical Section of the campaign of the Federation for the Support of Jewish Philanthropical Societies to raise $1,250,000.
Mrs. Harry Prampin, a Negress, who, whith her husband, owns the Prampin School of Music, was asked by Harry L. Reichenbach, special representative for Paramount Pictures, to leave the banquet. Mrs. Prampin left, when her $10 couvert charge was returned.
In her letter of protest to Mr. Warburg she claims that she received repeated invitations to attend the dinner and, thinking because of her former affiliation with the stage as a vaudeville performer, her presence was desired, she sent in her acceptance.
Mr. Zukor, president of the Famous-Players Lasky Corporation and prominent in the campaign, stated in his letter of apology to Mrs. Prampin that if “any one in authority had been present”. Mrs. Prampin would “not have been subjected to the discourtesy she experienced.”
