A draft of regulations for implementation of Hungary’s drastic anti-Jewish law, providing for restriction of Jews in the country’s economic, political and cultural life, has been approved by the Cabinet and is now under consideration by the Justice Ministry, newspapers reported today.
The most important of the regulations concerns expropriation of Jewish property, for which purpose the Government is now carrying out a special land survey to establish which estates are owned by Jews. the final draft of the regulations is understood to contain 60 clauses. The section dealing with the definition of the term “Jew” is said to be particularly comprehensive.
The first regulations, which will be issued in the form of decrees, will deal with elimination of Jews from the press, it is reported.
In a lengthy article, Dr. Stefan Antal, Secretary of State in the Justice Ministry, declared that the anti-Jewish law would quickly solve the “Jewish problem.” He said the law was quite capable producing the intended result of eliminating Jews from business.
