The Soviet authorities appear to be on a definite but unannounced program of rehabilitating living Jewish literary men as well as dead ones, it has become evident from study of recently arrived issues of Literaturnaya Gazeta, the Soviet literary newspaper.

Virtually every issue carries contributions from Soviet Jews who were sent into disgrace or worse after the 1949 campaign against “cosmopolitans.” Among the Jewish writers who are again being published in Soviet publications are D. Danin a critic, Alexandr Isbakh, a novelist, and L. Sheinin, onetime member of the executive of the Jewish Anti-Fascist Committee, which was “liquidated” seven or eight years ago.
