Friday’s issue of the London Times was confiscated by the Ministry of Propaganda and Enlightenment yesterday because it contained an editorial considered detrimental to the interests of Germany.
The editorial declared that Germany’s persecution of the Jews was a “stubborn impediment” in the way of a better understanding between Great Britain and the Reich.
“The fanatical denunciation and repression of an unresisting and helpless community,” the Times editorial stated, “seems further from control and responsibility than ever. It is tormenting of a people in a cage. A society that is prepared to tolerate evils of this order will inevitably reap what it sows.”
