The first community of Jewish refugees from Germany to establish their own synagogue, library and theatre is reported here from Chile by the Jewish Emigration Association (HICEM), the organization which facilitated the emigration of the German-Jewish refugees to Chile.
The report states that the German-Jewish refugees in Chile have organized themselves into a special community of German-speaking Jews which will have no connection with the local Jewish community already in existence there, but which will work in permanent and friendly contact with the Committee for the Protection of Jewish Immigrants. The objects of the newly formed community of German Jews will be purely religious and moral in character, the report says.
