The Hitler government of Germany is “importing” ex-Saarlanders from this city to vote in the crucial Saar plebiscite in January, it was learned here today.

About twenty men from Chicago will make a trip to their former homes in the Saar as “guests” of the Reich administration to vote in favor of turning the area back to Germany. It is known that Hitler regards a victory in the election as an essential to bolster his crumbling prestige.

Vice-Consul Tannenberg is in charge of arrangements for the trip. The party will sail as tourists on one of the North German Lloyd-Hamburg-American liners.

All expenses are being paid, including the charges for their stay while abroad. Spending money, also, is reported included. The group is expected to be gone about three weeks.

Collections are being taken up in “loyal” German circles here to feed the families of the Saarlanders while they are gone, but the flow of coins is sparse, with less than $500 collected to date, according to the admission of an ardent Nazi.

The business of Tannenberg is said to concern itself very largely with propagandizing for the Nazis and against the Jews.
