The Nazi official press bureau warned German manufacturers today not to issue credits to Jews on pain of being held responsible to the State.
Regardless of whether the credits are issued by institutions or by individuals, they belong to the State, the warning declared, and the State loses if Jews emigrate without paying.
The press bureau stated that it should not be considered a harsh measure if those giving credits to Jews are forced to make good any losses personally. It held that while no special laws or decrees govern the granting of credits to Jews, “in Germany today laws and ordinances are less important than the healthy instinct and decent will which every German is expected to display.
Declaring that the State does not wish citizens to aid Jews, the statement sharply warned people holding the view that the Nazi movement deals unfairly with Jews to express their sympathy with Jews privately.
