An order issued today requires all members of the Reichs Union of German Periodical Publishers to prove “Aryan” descent back to 1800 of themselves and their wives.
The order, signed by Max Amann, president of the Reichs Press Chamber, sets July 31 as the deadline for compliance.
It is pointed out that the order does not mean employment of “non-Aryans” is permissible until July 31, but that “Aryan” publishers unable to trace their “Aryanism” back to 1800 will be excluded from membership in the Union after that date.
Exclusion from the Union would make it impossible for publishers to continue in business.
