The Nazi government registry office today issued the first of the new passports containing, in addition to the customary information, details of the racial descent of the holder.
The step was opposed by Jewish organizations as the beginning of a “yellow badge” system, similar to the distinctive marks worn by the Jews in the Middle Ages.
Through the new passport system officials will be able to distinguish at once between “Aryans” and “non-Aryans.”
