Reintegration of the returning Jewish war veteran into community life is the “number one” problem confronting the Jewish Center movement, Lt. Col. Julius Schreiber, former chief of the program section of the army orientation branch of the War Department’s information and education division, told the annual meeting of the Jewish Center Division Committee of the National Jewish Welfare Board held here.
Referring to the special problems of the Jewish veteran, Col. Schreiber said that the Jewish community center, in addition to providing the ex-service man with such information as he seeks and with a well-rounded social and entertainment program, must also offer a “positive, pro-democratic educational program, with opportunities for learning about Jewish life and participation in Jewish activities.”
