Reiss Warns of Peril in World Conditions–deplores Uncertainty

In a speech broadcast over Station WBNX last night, Sidney H. Reiss, speaking under the auspices of the Young People’s League of the United Synagogue, warned that the world today is like a powder keg.

“Just a little match applied at the right place and we may all be smashed to minute atomic particles,” Reiss declared. He deplored the spirit of uncertainty in the air.

“Broadly speaking, three philosophies of civilization are struggling against each other.” Reiss continued, “One the right we find Fascism. In the Center is Democracy. Over on the extreme left is Communism.”

PROF. TCHERNOWITZ WRITES PAPER FOR LEGAL CONFERENCE

A paper written by Professor Chaim Tchernowitz, editor-in-chief of the Talmudic Library Publication Society and a member of the Jewish Institute of Religion, was read at the World Jewish Legal Conference which opened in Jerusalem on April 1. The paper discussed the restoration of the Jewish Supreme Court.

Professor Tchernowitz was invited to take part in the Jerusalem conference, but was unable to attend.
