The plan to coordinate Jewish relief work in Russia and prevent duplication as well as friction, has miscarried, the representatives of the “bourgeoise” organizations having declined to join the communists in this effort.
The plan was breached by the Jewish Commissariat which called a conference in which the following took part: Drs. Rosen and Bogen representing the JDC; Sack and Lubarski the Ica; Adler and Greenberg the World Relief Conference; Merejhin and Chaifetz the Jewish Commissariat; Mandslsberg, the Idgescom; Golder, the Ort; Litvakow, the Cultural League; Schimschelewitch, the Soviet Government; and Levitan the Jewish Section.
All except the “Ica” and the JDC representatives declared they were prepared to organize a commission to act as a clearing house and control agency for all Jewish relief. Because the spokesmen for the two largest organizations hesitated, the conference, it is said, dissolved without accomplishing the objects for which it was called.
The conference was not, however, without some results, since subsequently, representatives of the Ort, Ica, Idgescom and JDC met to organize a commission to plan and coordinate the agricultural activities of these organizations. Dr. Rosen of the JDC was chosen Chairman of this commission.
