More than 2,000 appeals to locate missing relatives came to the Hebrew Sheltering and Immigrant Aid Society of America, during the first six months of the current year, the New York office reports. The appeals came from Poland, Roumania, Lithuania, Latvia, France, Germany, Argentine and Brazil, where Hias maintains offices, and from other countries where Hias has correspondents.
In most cases, Hias reports, its efforts to trace lost relatives and friends were successful.
