Jewish and Christian groups in Great Britain have formed a Famine Relief Committee whose purpose is to secure permission from the British Government for the shipment of food and other supplies to the starving populations of occupied Europe, it was announced here today.

The committee was formed following several conferences on the food situation in German-occupied countries which were called by Dr. Bell, Bishop of Chichester. It has been endorsed by Cardinal Hinsley and the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Bishop of Chichester, in explaining the reasons for the formation of the new committee, declared that it will press the government concerning the possibility of shipping food to the people in the occupied countries who are dying from disease and starvation. Such shipments might be sent in the same manner as relief has been furnished the people of Greece, he said.
