Religious Education Week begins here today in accordance with a proclamation issued by Acting Mayor Vincent Impellitteri. The observance marks the opening of released time for public school children to attend religious classes. Impellitteri noted that Jews, Protestants, Roman Catholics and Christian Scientists have formed a united front to sponsor released time for religious education “to combat the materialism which surrounds them.”
