A statement endorsing the establishment of a permanent American Jewish Conference was issued here by Rabbi Max Kirshblum, national executive vice-president of the Mizrachi Organization of America. Rabbi Kirshblum made the statement as temporary chairman of the Religious National Ortnodox Bloc, following a meeting of representatives of the religious American Jewish community at the offices of the Mizrachi.
Decrying the present chaotic state of American-Jewish organizational life, the statement declared: “Too many of the presently constituted Jewish agencies operate almost completely independent of democratic expressions of public will. Only in a very hazy and general fashion are they accountable to the expression and opinion of Jewish communities. In many instances their decisions and their expenditure of funds express and reflect the ideologies and views of boards that are not representative of the main currents of Jewish opinion. Furthermore, these agencies duplicate each other’s programs with a tremendous waste of funds resulting.”
