The remains of an Israelite city of the period of King David have been uncovered near the Ein Gev settlement on the eastern shore of Lake Tiberias.
The expedition, led by Professor Benjamin Mazar, made the find slightly to the west of the site of the Byzantine city of Susita. A rich treasure of pots, religious artifacts, fishing equipment and jugs bearing Hebrew inscriptions was uncovered. The excavations uncovered seven levels, the fourth of which was considered the most interesting.
