A demand for the suspension of the Rumanian daily Newspaper Viata Banateana for publishing an anti-Semitic article has been made by the Jewish Democratic Committee in the city of Timisoara.
The article alleged that the chief reason for a recrudescence of corruption among local officials is the “Jewish practice” of offering bribes to officials when applying for aid. The authorities are questioning both the editors and the author of the article.
