Considerable scandal has developed here over the converted Jewess Lilia Wojciechowski, who being anxious to hide her Jewish origin had her 71 year old father baptised just before his death and while he was unconscious, Her father, Raphael Felsenkranz, was the editor of an important insurance periodical. Lilia was at once remorseful and immediately summoned a rabbi, but her father died before he could perform a re-conversion ceremony. Mr. Felsenkranz’s family protested against the plans for burial in a Christian cemetery, but because he had been baptized he could not be buried in a Jewish cemetery. The body remained unburied for six days, when the rabbinate intervened and the Bishop consented to the burial in a Jewish cemetery, which will take place tomorrow.
