Rene de Epelbaum, a founder of a human rights group in Argentina that defied the country’s military junta during the 1970s, died at the age of 77. She was a founder of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, which continues to hold weekly vigils in the main government square to remember those who “disappeared” during the junta’s rule.
