Rene Mayer, a Jew, agreed today to become French Premier-designate. He will present himself to the National Assembly tomorrow. M. Mayer was named Secretary of Communications in 1943 by the provisional government set up by Gen. Henri Giraud during the Nazi occupation of France. He is a financial expert and a leader of the Radical Socialist party.
