A renewal of the Israeli application for membership in the United Nations can be expected within a few days, it was learned here today in Israeli delegation circles.
They stressed the need for an early start if the Security Council which must give prior approval is to be given ample time for consideration before the General assembly reconvenes at Flushing Meadow April 5. Although the Council had failed to approve Israel’s first application, delegation spokesmen are more optimistic about the outcome of a second effort now that three members of the Council–Cuba, France and Canada–have since recognized the Jewish state.
