A renewed wave of terror against Jews and Poles in Nazi-held Poland was predicted here today as the result of a report in the Nazi newspaper Krakauer Zeitung, which arrived here from Cracow, that Hans Frank, Nazi governor for Poland, has held “an important conference” with all security chiefs and heads of local police forces in the occupied territory.
The conference, which took place in Cracow on June 14, was called for the purpose of finding “an immediate solution to many problems of greatest importance.” Two days later a conference of all heads of the special Nazi tribunals in Poland was held in Cracow at which Frank instructed the tribunals to show no mercy in their verdicts.
The Krakauer Zeitung also reports that all Jews in Rzeszow, Eastern Galicia, were ordered to leave their homes without taking any of their belongings. They were then driven into a ghetto on the outskirts of the town from where they are sent to forced labor. Their dwellings were occupied by Germans from Hamburg, Stuttgart and Koenigsberg, the Nazi paper states.
